Given the fast evolving business landscape, social media platforms like Facebook have never been more important for startups to leverage on to achieve their goals. With an incredible reach of over one billion daily active users, it goes without saying that having a solid Facebook presence can help you engage fans and grow your business.
But it can be tricky to know where to start – let alone understand how to maximise the potential of Facebook. For those of you who are just starting out, we’ve shortlisted three essential factors to help you get the ball rolling.
1. Get the word out
Just having a Facebook page isn’t enough. You need to drive traffic to your page in order to connect with your audience. While there are plenty of options available, a good start could be by sending an email invitation to your current users and subscribers. Let them know about your Facebook page and encourage them to join.
Of course, you’ll first need to have engaging content on your page even before getting the word out – more about that in point 2 below.
If you have a bit more budget, Facebook even has existing tools to help you build an online following, such as Facebook ads. The best campaigns are cleverly executed and designed to reach the right audience. With careful planning, those ad dollars can go a long way.
2. Engage your users
Keeping your users happy and engaged is one of the most effective ways to grow your startup organically – and you can do it for free on Facebook. But doing this would mean having a sound content strategy featuring user-centric content that matters to your audience. After all, content is king. Get it right and people will be sharing your content online, via email, or even through word-of-mouth. These kind of active sharing certainly beats any paid advertising.
You can also make use of Facebook’s wide variety of resources such as polls, surveys and contests – these allow for an easy way for your fans to interact with you. In return, their answers may provide you with valuable user insights that may guide your business forward.
3. Know your users
The key to continued success is to understand your users and make sure that you’re building a product that they love. Apart from drawing in users, you’ll need to ensure that your content or product triggers some form of interest in them. This information can be easily gathered with Facebook Analytics for Apps.
With the array of features and tools available, it is essential to track the right ones to grow your business. Engagement is probably one of the most important metrics to focus on. Be it the number likes, comments, views, or shares, it’ll pay to understand these data and apply it to your bottom line.
