In its home turf China, Xiaomi fell to the fifth spot behind Oppo, Huawei, Vivo, and Apple last year. But its bet on India has paid off. In January, Xiaomi announced crossing the US$1 billion revenue mark in India in 2016. Co-founder and CEO Lei Jun predicts the company will double its revenue in India to US$2 billion in 2017.
Here are the key points on Xiaomi’s growth:
- Global revenue of Xiaomi to surpass US$15 billion this year.
- Xiaomi’s performance in India to rejuvenate the brand globally.
- “We have gone back to healthy growth. We will resume rapid growth in the next two years,” Lei Jun said.
